Product description

This structured and 'crystalline' white wine originates from Canada, within the prestigious East Kelowna Bench sub-G.I. of British Columbia's Okanagan Valley. Produced by Martin's Lane Winery an exclusive, gravity-fed estate designed by architect Tom Kundig and led by winemaker Shane Munn, dedicated solely to Pinot Noir and Riesling this single-vineyard bottling is a benchmark for high-latitude, cool-climate Riesling. Sourced from the historic, north-facing Simes Vineyard, the vines sit on a steep, cool slope rooted in complex granite-rich glacial till, silt, and clay soils. The northern orientation protects the grapes from scorching afternoon heat, allowing for an exceptionally long, gradual ripening season. Intense UV daylight is balanced by cool mountain air currents coming off Okanagan Lake, enabling Riesling grapes to accumulate detailed aromatic phenolics while locking in a razor-sharp, age-worthy natural acidity.

Wine Description

The Martin's Lane Riesling 'Simes Vineyard' presents a brilliant, pale straw-gold color in the glass with bright platinum and chartreuse highlights along the rim. Its sensory profile is exceptionally fresh, high-toned, and complex, delivering an energetic, laser-focused, and mineral-driven portrait of East Kelowna terroir. The bouquet opens with a soaring display of lime zest, green apple, and white peach, seamlessly layered with complex underlays of lemongrass, orange blossom, wet slate, crushed granite, and a subtle line of petrol and lime leaf. On the palate, the wine is light-to-medium-bodied, sleek, and electric, showcasing a vibrant core of crunchy orchard fruit, lemon curd, and salted melon. It is characterized by its outstanding inner energy and an incisive, mouthwatering backbone of natural acidity that cuts cleanly across the mid-palate, seamlessly balancing a touch of delicate residual sugar. The mouthfeel is weightless, supple, and linear, carrying into an extraordinarily long, dry-tasting, and mineral-driven finish accented by persistent notes of lime peel, wet stone, and saline minerality.
