This prestigious red wine is produced in the Veneto region of northern Italy, specifically within the Valpolicella Classica zone. The Masi estate has a storied history dating back to 1772 when the Boscaini family acquired the Vaio dei Masi valley, and today the family continues to manage the property with a focus on traditional Venetian winemaking. The 'Costasera' name refers to the vineyard slopes that face the sunset, benefiting from the reflected light of Lake Garda and a mild climate that is ideal for the drying process.
Wine Description
The Masi Costasera Riserva Amarone is an opaque, dark red wine with an intense and complex sensory profile. The nose is dominated by super-ripe fruit aromas, including baked plums and cherries, layered with notes of cinnamon, vanilla, toasted coffee, and cocoa. On the palate, it is warm, majestic, and full-bodied, offering concentrated flavours of cooked cherries, cloves, and blackberry jam balanced by a refreshing acidity and velvety tannins. The wine is a blend of 70% Corvina, 15% Rondinella, 10% Oseleta, and 5% Molinara. It is aged for at least 38 months in Slavonian oak barrels and has an ABV of 15.5%.
