This Barolo originates from Italy, within the esteemed Piedmont region and the Barolo subregion, specifically the commune of Serralunga d'Alba. Founded in 1896 by Giovanni Massolino, the winery has been family-run for generations, with current custodians Franco and Roberto Massolino maintaining a focus on tradition and quality. Their winemaking philosophy centres on expressing the territory by 'elevating' the purest expression of the Nebbiolo grape, aided by long macerations and ageing in large Slavonian oak casks.
Wine Description
The aromatic profile is intense and expressive, with dominant floral aromas of dog rose and violets, along with red fruits, citrus notes, wild herbs, liquorice, and a hint of new leather and polished leather. Crafted from 100% Nebbiolo grapes, the palate is elegantly composed and savory. It offers depth of plush red fruit, ripe Morello cherry, star anise, and tanginess from orange peel, intertwined with minerals.

This robust and structured Barolo is an excellent companion for hearty and richly-flavored dishes such as game like venison or wild boar stew, as well as ribeye or braised meat.
