Product description
Originating from Italy in the Piedmont region, specifically within the Langhe DOC appellation, Massolino Langhe Nebbiolo represents an exceptionally pure, elegant, and aristocratic expression of Nebbiolo. Founded in 1896 by Giovanni Massolino in Serralunga d'Alba, the estate is renowned for its benchmark Barolos. This Langhe Nebbiolo is crafted from a thoughtful blend of estate fruit in Serralunga d'Alba, combined with parcels in Monforte d'Alba and Alba planted on chalky limestone and sandy-clay soils. The winemaking philosophy involves gentle extraction, temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel vats, and maturation in large traditional Slavonian oak casks for over a year. The result is a wine that bridges the structural elegance of Barolo with early-drinking charm and vibrant red fruit freshness.
Wine Description
The wine presents a clear, luminous pale ruby red colour with bright garnet reflections along the rim. An expressive, highly perfumed bouquet opens with noble aromas of wild strawberry, tart red cherry, raspberry coulis, and blood orange, interwoven with subtle notes of crushed rose petals, pipe tobacco, cedar, dried anise, and sweet spice. On the palate, it is medium bodied, silky, and energetic, delivering concentrated flavours of fresh red berries, cherry curd, and saline mineral earth, all supported by a bright, mouthwatering spine of natural acidity. Framed by fine, chalky, seamlessly integrated tannins and a harmonious mid-palate structure, it concludes with a long, persistent finish marked by lingering red fruit, subtle graphite minerality, and a clean limestone grip. Composed of 100% Nebbiolo, it offers a refined profile with impressive aging capability over several years. Stylistically, it combines Serralunga's structural nobility with high-altitude floral aromatics and effortless drinking pleasure.
