Michter's Bomberger's Declaration Straight Bourbon - 2021 Release

This straight bourbon whiskey originates from the United States, produced in the Kentucky region. Crafted by Michter's Master Distiller Dan McKee and Master of Maturation Andrea Wilson at Michter's Shively Distillery in Louisville, Kentucky, the "Bomberger's Declaration" line honors the legacy of the historic Bomberger's Distillery (which later became Michter's in Pennsylvania). The 2021 Release is particularly distinguished by its inclusion of bourbon aged in Chinquapin oak (Quercus muehlenbergii) casks that were custom-matured and air-dried for three years before coopering.

Spirit Description

This bourbon presents a rich, dark mahogany hue in the glass. The nose is bold, complex, and inviting, opening with prominent aromas of dark caramel, toasted oak, roasted nuts, and dried fruit, accompanied by subtle nuances of sweet cocoa and baking spice. On the palate, it is full-bodied with a luxurious, velvety mouthfeel, delivering layered flavours of rich chocolate, dark berries, sweet molasses, and charred oak, balanced by unique herbal and wood-spice notes imparted by the Chinquapin oak. The finish is long, warm, and exceptionally smooth, leaving a lingering impression of dark chocolate, sweet oak, and subtle pepper spice. Bottled at a strength of 108 Proof (54% ABV), it delivers impressive richness, complexity, and structure.
