Product description
Michter's Bomberger's PFG™ (Precision Fine Grain) Bourbon is a new, limited release Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey from the country of the United States. It is a part of Michter's 'Legacy Series,' which honours the heritage of the historic Bomberger's Distillery in Pennsylvania. The name 'PFG' stands for Precision Fine Grain, which refers to the meticulous secondary cask aging process the whiskey undergoes. The first release of this expression was the 2025 batch, which launched in early 2025.
Spirit Description
This bourbon is bottled without an age statement. It begins its maturation journey in a new toasted and charred American oak barrel. After full maturation, the bourbon is transferred for a secondary aging period in a new, custom, proprietary toasted and charred French fine grain oak barrel. This secondary cask is crafted from wood sourced from various revered French forests, including Tronçais, Allier, Nevers, and Vosges. The staves for these barrels are naturally air-dried outdoors for a minimum of 40 months to enhance the wood's unique characteristics before construction.
The colour is described as a dark amber, and in some cases, a garnet or mahogany red. The nose features a medley of engaging aromas, ranging from confectionary notes like burnt sugar, brown butter, and crème brûlée to spicy and floral notes. The palate is full-bodied, beautifully integrated, and complex, with flavours of exquisite fruit (like cherry and mixed berry compote) and spice, surrounded by toasty, sweet notes. It often exhibits a syrupy mouthfeel and a balance of dark chocolate, cocoa, and rich oak. The finish is full-bodied, luxurious, and creamy, with lingering soft spice and chocolate. It is bottled at 100.2 proof, or 50.1% ABV.
