Product description
This clear French grape spirit originates from Gascony in southwestern France, produced by Domaine de Millet (Château de Millet) in Eauze under the Blanche d'Armagnac AOC (officially recognized in 2005). Estate-crafted by the Dèche family, this expression is distilled primarily from Folle Blanche and Ugni Blanc grapes grown in the region's iron-rich tawny sandy soils (sables fauves). Following a single continuous distillation in a copper Armagnac alambic, the spirit avoids oak contact entirely; instead, it rests for several months in inert stainless steel tanks. This resting phase allows the volatile esters to round out while preserving absolute clarity before being bottled at 84 proof (42.0% ABV), offering an unaged, terroir-driven look into Gascon grape distillate.
Spirit Description
This clear brandy exhibits pristine, water-white clarity with bright silver flashes and fast, clean legs clinging to the glass. On the nose, it is intensely aromatic, crisp, and fresh, opening with vibrant wafts of fresh white grapes, white peach, green apple, and lime blossom, backed by hints of fresh mint, white pepper, and damp chalky mineral earth. On the palate, it feels medium-bodied, round, and surprisingly silky, delivering a burst of natural grape sweetness, sweet pear, and citrus zest before developing a crisp mid-palate of white floral notes, subtle almond, and clean mineral salinity. The absence of wood tannins leaves the natural fruit purity fully exposed. The finish is short to medium, exceptionally clean, and refreshing, leaving trailing impressions of citrus peel, fresh vine fruit, and a soft, dry pepper warmth.
Accolades
Domaine de Millet Blanche holds high critical respect among sommelier circles, mixologists, and French brandy purists for showcasing the raw potential of unaged Armagnac. Earning accolades at the Concours Général Agricole de Paris and praise in publications like Difford's Guide, reviewers highlight how its single continuous distillation retains significantly more mouthfeel, body, and aromatic complexity than doubly distilled spirits like standard vodka or unaged pisco.
