Millet Armagnac VSOP - 700 ml

This traditional French grape brandy originates from Gascony in southwestern France, produced by Domaine de Millet (Château de Millet) in Eauze, the heart of the Bas-Armagnac sub-region. Crafted by the Dèche family—who have stewarded the estate for generations—this expression is distilled primarily from Baco 22A and Ugni Blanc grapes grown in the region's famous sables fauves (iron-rich tawny sandy soils). Following a single continuous distillation in a traditional copper Armagnac alambic, the spirit is matured in local Gascon oak barrels (chêne patiné) for a minimum of 4 to 7 years (exceeding the legal 4-year requirement for VSOP). Bottled at 80 proof (40.0% ABV) in the standard 700 ml format, it offers a rustic, fruit-forward alternative to Cognac.

Spirit Description

This Armagnac presents a bright amber-gold hue with warm copper highlights in the glass. On the nose, it is expressive, warm, and inviting, opening with dominant aromas of stewed plums, dried apricots, and fresh orange peel, quickly underlaid by toasted almonds, vanilla bean, and a soft touch of rustic wood spice. On the palate, it feels medium-bodied, round, and smooth, delivering an immediate wave of candied orchard fruit, dark honey, and crème brûlée before developing a warm mid-palate of nutmeg, baking spices, and subtle oak tannins. The single distillation preserves the raw texture and grape character, avoiding overly rectified sharpness. The finish is clean, warm, and medium in length, leaving trailing impressions of dried fruit, vanilla, toasted oak, and a soft Gascon spice.
