Product description

Montagave Blanco "Las Rocas" Tequila is a luxury, small-batch unaged spirit crafted in Amatitán, within the Lowlands (Valles) region of Jalisco, Mexico. Produced at the renowned Tequila Cascahuín distillery (NOM 1123) by Master Distiller Salvador "Chava" Rosales Trejo in collaboration with the Montagave brand founders, this expression represents an innovative fusion of traditional Mexican distillation and European winemaking heritage. Rested briefly in rare French oak casks that previously held Grand Cru red wine from Bordeaux, France, "Las Rocas" delivers a remarkably refined, additive-free blanco profile.

Spirit Description

Montagave Blanco Las Rocas is made from 100% Blue Weber agaves harvested at peak maturity in the Valles region. The agaves are slow-cooked in traditional masonry brick ovens, crushed using a combination of a traditional stone tahona wheel and a roller mill, and fermented in open-air vats. Following double distillation in copper pot stills, the unaged blanco distillate is rested for a short period (under 60 days, maintaining its Blanco classification) in hand-selected French oak Bordeaux wine barrels. This subtle barrel rest introduces delicate red fruit, floral, and soft oak nuances without altering the spirit's clear appearance or masking its vibrant Lowland agave core.

  • Colour: Crystal clear with faint, luminous straw-silver flashes and slow, elegant legs.

  • Aroma: Complex, floral, and highly aromatic. The nose opens with sweet cooked agave, fresh lime zest, and wet-stone minerality, backed by delicate aromas of red berries, dried rose petals, subtle French oak, and white pepper.

  • Palate: Silky, vibrant, and elegant on the entry. Upfront flavors of rich roasted agave and bright citrus yield to subtle dark cherry, red currant, soft vanilla, and a gentle oak tannin structure balanced by Lowland earthy minerality.

  • Body: Medium-to-full-bodied with a soft, rounded, and velvety texture.

  • Finish: Long, crisp, and clean, trailing off with lingering sweet agave, red fruit undertones, mild pepper spice, and a dry, refreshing mineral snap.

  • ABV: Bottled at 41% ABV (82 Proof)
