This structured and 'muscular' red wine originates from the United States, within the prestigious Mt. Veeder A.V.A. of California's Napa Valley. Mt. Brave is a high-altitude mountain estate established in 2007 by Jackson Family Wines on the rugged, western slopes of the Mayacamas Mountain Range. Operating under the master winemaking direction of legendary mountain Cabernet specialist Chris Carpenter (also renowned for Lokoya and Cardinale), the winery pays homage to the native Wappo tribe that first inhabited these high peaks. The estate vines are rooted in thin, rocky volcanic and sedimentary seabed soils at high elevations up to 1,800 feet. Perched above the fog line, these steep, low-yielding mountain blocks receive intense daily sunlight tempered by cool maritime breezes from San Pablo Bay, naturally forcing the vines to yield concentrated berries with immense tannic structure and electric natural acidity.

Wine Description

The 2021 Mt. Brave Cabernet Sauvignon presents a deep, near-opaque garnet-purple appearance in the glass. Its sensory profile is exceptionally elegant, deep, and high-toned, perfectly capturing the wild, high-altitude character of Mount Veeder. The bouquet opens with a captivating, multi-faceted display of fresh cassis, wild blueberries, and black cherry liqueur, beautifully layered with complex undertones of crushed violets, graphite minerality, tobacco leaf, bay leaf, and fresh sage. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, dense, and remarkably focused, showcasing a generous core of dark fruits, cocoa nibs, and crushed stones. It is characterized by its outstanding inner energy and a vibrant, mouthwatering backbone of natural acidity that cuts cleanly through its mountain concentration.
