Founded by friendship in 1985, Murphy-Goode is a serious winery built around a common concept: don’t take life so seriously.
Tim Murphy, Dale Goode, and Dave Ready began their winemaking adventure by pooling their collective talents together. Both Tim Murphy and Dale Goode were the growers of the team. They helped to pioneer Alexander Valley by bringing wire trellising, broad scale drip irrigation, and leaf pulling to the area. Tim Murphy is also considered the father of Sonoma Sauvignon Blanc. Dave Ready was the marketer of the trio, bringing a fun personality to the winery, which it is still known for today.
Over 30 years later, Murphy-Goode still puts that same passion of its founders into every vintage. Murphy-Goode is led today by winemaker Dave Ready, Jr., the son of one of the winery’s founders.
Murphy-Goode's Pinot Noir sources grapes throughout the coast of California. From the marine-influenced vineyards of Sonoma County down to hills of the idyllic Santa Barbara. Cool conditions in these prime growing spots keep grapes at a perfect balance between vibrant dark fruit character and bright acidity. Notes of vanilla from aging in French and American oak add complexity to the intense black cherry aromas and flavours.
