This single-varietal red wine hails from Spain, specifically the eastern coast's Denominación de Origen Protegida (DOP Alicante). Bodegas Murviedro was founded by the Schenk family in 1927. Their winemaking philosophy is rooted in a belief and deep respect for their local terroirs, combining innovative techniques with grapes from traditional vineyards. The 'Sericis' line is named for the Latin word for 'silky,' paying homage to the region's silk heritage and the wine's gentle character.

Wine Description

The wine displays an intense red colour with purple tones. It is crafted entirely from 100% Monastrell (Mourvèdre) grapes sourced from 'old vines' (Cepas Viejas). The nose is highly aromatic, presenting powerful aromas of ripe fruit—such as blackberry and plum—layered with toasted oak and hints of spice. On the palate, this is a full bodied, fleshy, and complex wine, with a silky texture and a fruit-driven core. Flavours often include blackcurrant, dried earth, clove, and black pepper, supported by ripe, balanced tannins. It is aged for a minimum of 14 months in French oak barrels. The Sericis is a silky red wine with a very long, pleasant finish that often recalls toasted notes. The wine is suitable for vegetarians and vegans.
