Crafted at Heaven Hill Distillery in Bardstown, Kentucky, Elijah Craig Toasted Barrel Rye expands the brand's popular toasted finishing program into their rye portfolio. Built on Heaven Hill's traditional barely-legal rye mash bill (51% rye, 35% corn, and 14% malted barley), fully matured straight rye whiskey is dumped and transferred into a secondary, custom-toasted new oak barrel produced in partnership with Independent Stave Company. This specialized toast profile softens the sharp edges of the rye grain while imparting deep, caramelized oak sugars.

Spirit Description

This finished rye presents a rich, burnished copper hue in the glass. The nose is warm, sweet, and dessert-forward, opening with inviting aromas of toasted oak, crème brûlée, toasted almonds, and roasted hazelnuts, backed by soft hints of cinnamon-dusted marshmallow and vanilla. On the palate, it exhibits a remarkably soft, creamy mouthfeel, delivering luscious flavours of milk chocolate, butterscotch, and sweet graham cracker, beautifully balanced by subtle rye baking spices, nutmeg, and gentle oak tannins. The finish is smooth, warm, and lingering, leaving a comforting trail of sweet oak, milk chocolate, and drawn-out rye spice.
