Product description
Old Soul Pinot Noir originates from the United States, within the California region and the Lodi AVA subregion. The wine is produced by Oak Ridge Winery, the oldest operating winery in Lodi, which has been owned and farmed by the Maggio family since 1934. The winery's philosophy bridges multi-generational estate farming with contemporary production practices, operating under a commitment to craft highly expressive, fruit-forward wines that offer exceptional everyday value.
Wine Description
This red wine presents a bright ruby appearance in the glass and possesses a light-to-medium body with a soft, lush mouthfeel. The sensory profile is highly approachable and forward, opening with an aromatic nose of ripe black cherries, raspberry jam, and cherry cola, balanced by hints of fig and baking spice. On the plush palate, it delivers a generous, sweet-fruited stream of dark summer berries, plum, and brambleberry, layered with a touch of mocha and warm vanilla bean. The finish is smooth and easy-drinking, leaving a clean, lingering impression of toasted oak and soft chocolate-covered berries.
Varietal Composition: Typically a robust Californian blend dominated by 77% to 85% Pinot Noir, routinely co-fermented and structured with small percentages of Petite Sirah, Petit Verdot, Malbec, or Zinfandel depending on the vintage.
Stylistic Notes: The wine is celebrated for its crowd-pleasing, plush style and smooth integration; it is matured for up to 14 months in 100% French oak barrels to soften the tannins while maintaining an approachable fruit core.
ABV: Typically recorded between 13.5% and 14.5% vol.
Organic Status: While not certified organic, the estate vineyards are fully certified sustainable under the rigorous Lodi Rules Green Sustainable Winegrowing program.
Food Pairing
The supple structure, sweet fruit profile, and gentle oak spices of this Pinot Noir make it an incredibly food-friendly and versatile option for everyday dining.
Poultry & Meats: Pairs beautifully with classic roast chicken, grilled duck breast, herb-crusted pork chops, or lean cuts of lamb.
Seafood: Suggested pairings include pan-seared or grilled salmon fillets, which complement the wine's balanced acidity.
Savoury: Complements a rich portobello mushroom risotto, caramelized onion flatbreads, or everyday staples like a standard cheeseburger.
Cheese: Matches gracefully with mild, semi-soft options such as Gouda or creamy Brie.
