Olim Bauda Barbera D'asti La Villa 2024

This classic red wine comes from Italy's northwest, specifically the Piedmont region, and is classified under the Barbera d'Asti DOCG appellation. The estate, Tenuta Olim Bauda, has a rich history dating back four generations, with the Bertolino family's involvement in winemaking and trade beginning over a century ago. The three Bertolino siblings—Dino, Diana, and Gianni—revived the family's winemaking tradition in 2000 after a hiatus, re-establishing the estate as a top Piedmont producer with a focus on blending modern and classic styles.

This wine is a pure expression of the Barbera grape, which makes up 100 per cent of its varietal composition. It displays an accentuated and vivid ruby red colour with youthful violet hues. The nose has good finesse, being vinous and intense with pleasant hints of sour cherry, raspberry, and red berries. On the palate, the wine is full bodied, juicy, and pleasant, showing great freshness, a silky texture, and lively acidity. The farming practices employed are sustainable, with the grapes organically grown. The optimal drinking window extends up to eight to ten years after the vintage, though it is also enjoyable young and vibrant.
