Product description

Opus One 2022 originates from the United States, within the California region and the Oakville appellation of Napa Valley. The historic estate was established in 1979 as a groundbreaking joint venture between legendary winemakers Robert Mondavi and Baron Philippe de Rothschild. The winery's philosophy bridges the traditional elegance and structure of Bordeaux with the signature sun-drenched richness and opulence of Napa Valley.

Wine Description

This red wine presents a deep garnet or glossy purple appearance and possesses a medium-to-full body with a supple, expansive, and velvet textured mouthfeel. The sensory profile is highly expressive, sophisticated, and complex, opening with a perfumed nose of cassis, blueberry, and dried rose petals, accented by underlying hints of green olive, cigar box, rosemary, and graphite. On the balanced and lively palate, it delivers a harmonious dance of bright red fruit flavours, juicy blackberries, and cocoa, intertwined with a refreshing touch of fresh orange peel and sweet wood spices. The finish is long, elegant, and persistent, delivering clean memories of wet stone, vanilla, dark coffee, and a savory, earthy richness.

  • Varietal Composition: A meticulous Bordeaux blend consisting of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Petit Verdot, 6.5% Cabernet Franc, 5% Merlot, and 0.5% Malbec.

  • Stylistic Notes: The wine is celebrated for its incredible structural focus, purity, and seamless integration, trading the weight of a typical blockbuster for a pretty, vibrant, and finessed character. It underwent 20 days of skin contact before maturing for 18 months entirely in 100% new French oak barrels.

  • ABV: 13.5%.

  • Organic Status: While the estate practices precision viticulture and meticulously hand harvests fruit from sustainably managed parcels, this commercial bottling is not certified organic.
