Oremus Aszu 5 Puttonyos is a prestigious sweet dessert wine from the Tokaj region in northeast Hungary. The Oremus estate, recognized for its excellence since 1630, was acquired in 1993 by the renowned Spanish winemaking group Vega Sicilia. Under the stewardship of the Álvarez family, the winery blends centuries-old traditions with modern techniques, utilizing UNESCO World Heritage vineyards and centuries-old underground volcanic galleries for aging. The winemaking philosophy centers on achieving a perfect balance between vibrant acidity and opulent sweetness, with production only possible in favorable vintages that allow for 'noble rot' (Botrytis cinerea).

Wine Description

This wine exhibits a bright light yellow to deep golden hue. The complex sensory profile features intense aromas of ripe peach, apricot, and dried fruits, evolving into notes of orange marmalade, honey, and floral jasmine. On the palate, it is full-bodied and velvety, offering concentrated flavours of candied orange peel, nectarine, and quince, accented by hints of hazelnut praline, stem ginger, and vanilla. The structure is defined by a dense texture and a bracing acidity that carves through the intense sweetness, leading to an exceptionally long and refined finish.
