This rare and 'opulent' white wine originates from Italy, within the Bolgheri Bianco D.O.C. appellation of Tuscany. Established in 1981 by Marchese Lodovico Antinori and owned by the Frescobaldi family since 2005, Tenuta Ornellaia is one of Italy's most prestigious estates. The winemaking philosophy focuses on translating the 'essence of the estate's terroir' into a light-filled interpretation of the Bolgheri coastline, emphasizing a close bond between humans and nature. Sourced primarily from rocky limestone and clay soils in the Bellaria vineyard, Ornellaia Bianco is crafted as a sophisticated white counterpart to the estate's legendary red flagship.

Wine Description

The 2022 Ornellaia Bianco presents a straw-yellow hue in the glass. The sensory profile is complex and alluring, featuring a bouquet of ripe orchard fruits like juicy pear, golden apple, and peach, layered with tropical scents of mango, pineapple, and lychee. Elegant undertones of almond blossom, white flowers, and a hint of toast or vanilla add depth to the nose. On the palate, the wine is medium-to-full-bodied with a rich, textural mouthfeel and a 'viscous' profile reflecting the warmer vintage. It is characterized by an impeccable harmony between its zesty citrus acidity and lush fruit, finishing on a savory, mineral, and upbeat note. This 100% Sauvignon Blanc reached an alcohol content (ABV) of 13.5% and was aged for 10 months on the lees in oak barrels (25% new) followed by two months in steel. While the estate follows sustainable practices, this bottling is not certified organic.
