Product description

This prestigious red wine originates from Canada, within the Okanagan Valley region of British Columbia. Osoyoos Larose was established in 1998 as an iconic joint venture between Vincor International and Groupe Taillan, a celebrated French wine conglomerate. The winery operates under a philosophy that mirrors classic Bordeaux estates, focusing its production entirely on two wines, a premier vin and a second label, crafted from a single block vineyard overlooking Osoyoos Lake. This dedicated approach aims to marry old world French winemaking sensibilities with the unique, sun-drenched terroir of the southern Okanagan.

Wine Description

The 2019 Osoyoos Larose Le Grand Vin exhibits a clear mulberry and purple-tinted colour. On the nose, it delivers a rich and expressive aromatic profile highlighting cassis, cherry, currant, and blueberry, layered with hints of violet, cracked peppercorn, espresso, and toasty caramel vanilla oak. The full-bodied palate is intensely robust yet balanced, showing a velvety mouthfeel with chalky and tobacco textures underpinned by a well-rounded, firm tannin structure and well-placed acidity. This dry Bordeaux-inspired blend possesses a persistent, fruit-driven finish accompanied by savoury notes of smoked meat and cedar. This vintage is composed primarily of 62.5% Merlot, complemented by 12.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11.8% Petit Verdot, 7.7% Cabernet Franc, and 5.5% Malbec. The wine typically reaches an alcohol content (ABV) of 14% and was matured for 16 months in a combination of new and used French oak barriques before undergoing extended bottle refinement. While the winery employs careful estate intervention, this bottling is not certified organic.
