Product description
Originating from the United States in California’s prestigious Napa Valley, specifically within the Oakville subregion, Overture by Opus One 2022 is an iconic second wine from one of Napa’s most celebrated estates. Opus One was born in 1979 from a historic partnership between Baron Philippe de Rothschild of Château Mouton Rothschild and Napa Valley winemaking pioneer Robert Mondavi. Crafted under the direction of winemaker Michael Silacci, the estate’s winemaking philosophy focuses on combining French winemaking tradition with prime Oakville terroir to produce wines of exceptional precision, balance, and grace.
Wine Description
The wine presents a vibrant, deep ruby colour with purple reflections. The nose opens with a complex, crystalline bouquet featuring bright cherry, wild blueberry, and cut rose stems, accented by hints of violet, toasted almond, anise, and subtle cinnamon bark. On the palate, it delivers a voluptuous yet refined structure showing lush blackberry, wild cherry, and blackcurrant supported by a tangy, refreshing acidity and fine-grained, powdery tannins. Full bodied in profile, it glides into a long, finessed finish highlighted by lingering notes of mocha and black tea. Composed predominantly of Cabernet Sauvignon alongside small portions of Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Petit Verdot, this release offers an optimal drinking window of 2025–2038. Stylistically, it strikes a seamless balance between classic Napa power and vibrant, fresh-fruit elegance.
