Product description
This structured and 'crystalline' white wine originates from New Zealand, within the world-renowned Marlborough region situated on the northern tip of the South Island. Oyster Bay, owned by Delegat Limited, is one of New Zealand’s most iconic and globally recognized wineries, instrumental in bringing Marlborough's unique maritime terroir to the world stage. Operating under a precision-focused winemaking philosophy that prioritizes varietal purity, brilliant fruit clarity, and refreshing cool-climate energy, the estate cultivates its Chardonnay across select blocks in the Wairau Valley and Awatere Valley. Rooted in free-draining alluvial soils comprising river stones, gravel, and sandy loam, these vines thrive under Marlborough’s hallmark combination of bright sun-drenched days and cool ocean breezes, which naturally preserves a crisp, mouthwatering acidity while developing deep, expressive tropical and citrus flavors.
Wine Description
The Oyster Bay Chardonnay presents a brilliant, pale straw-yellow color in the glass with vibrant green and silver highlights. Its sensory profile is exceptionally fresh, elegant, and high-toned, masterfully balancing bright cool-climate fruit intensity with a subtle, creamy oak accent. The bouquet opens with an inviting, fragrant display of ripe nectarines, white peaches, and juicy yellow plums, seamlessly layered with delicate undertones of fresh lemon curd, citrus blossoms, toasted hazelnut, and a light touch of dynamic vanilla. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, supple, and precisely focused, showcasing a generous core of stone fruits and bright grapefruit oils. It is characterized by its outstanding inner energy and an incisive, mouthwatering backbone of natural acidity that cuts cleanly through the mid-palate density. The mouthfeel is surprisingly creamy yet transparent, driven by a fine mineral tension that carries into a long, crisp, and refreshing finish accented by lingering notes of toasted oak, lime zest, and white peach.
