Introduction
This red wine originates from Italy, produced in the Veneto region within the Eastern Valpolicella production area. Pasqua Vigneti e Cantine is a historic family-owned winery established in 1925 in Verona, a city famously known as the setting for Romeo and Juliet, which serves as the inspiration for the 'PassioneSentimento' label. The winemaking philosophy centres on the traditional 'appassimento' method, where hand-harvested grapes are air-dried in wooden trays for one month to lose approximately 30% of their water content, concentrating the sugars and flavours before fermentation.
Wine Description
The Pasqua Passimento Red Blend exhibits a deep ruby red colour. The nose is intense and lingering, offering aromas of red berries, black cherry, and prune layered with spicy overtones of vanilla, cinnamon, and sweet tobacco. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied and balanced, delivering concentrated flavours of tart red cherry, dried strawberry, and blackberry with hints of leather and coffee grounds. It is characterized by its velvety tannins, vibrant acidity, and a soft, round finish that provides persistence. The varietal composition is a blend of 40% Merlot, 30% Corvina, and 30% Croatina. The wine typically features an ABV of 13.5% to 14% and is matured for 3 months in oak tonneaux.
