Product description
Patrón Extra Añejo Tequila is a luxury aged spirit produced in the Highlands (Los Altos) of Jalisco, Mexico. Crafted at the historic Hacienda Patrón in Atotonilco El Alto (NOM 1492), the brand represents one of the world's most recognized premium agave producers. Introduced as a permanent addition to the core Patrón portfolio in 2017, this expression highlights extended barrel maturation, aging for at least three full years to bridge the gap between classic highland agave sweetness and the complex depth of aged brown spirits.
Spirit Description
Patrón Extra Añejo is crafted from 100% Blue Weber agaves slow-cooked in traditional brick ovens. The agave piñas are extracted using a combination of a two-ton volcanic stone tahona wheel and modern roller mills, then fermented in pine wood vats and double-distilled in copper pot stills. The distillate is aged for a minimum of 3 years (36 months) in small oak barrels. Patrón utilizes a unique multi-barrel aging program—blending liquid matured in American oak, French oak (Allier and Limousin), and Hungarian oak barrels—to build complex layers of wood and spice while maintaining core agave character.
Colour: Deep warm amber with bright golden glints.
Aroma: Intensely aromatic and warm, opening with rich toffee, vanilla bean, and toasted oak, followed by dried fruit, light smoke, roasted agave, and warm baking spices.
Palate: Silky, lush, and velvety on the entry. Upfront flavors of butterscotch, honey, and vanilla blend smoothly into dark chocolate, caramelized stone fruits, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
Body: Full-bodied with a soft, round, and mouth-coating viscosity.
Finish: Long, warming, and elegant, trailing off with lingering toasted oak, subtle cocoa, dried fruit sweetness, and gentle spice.
ABV: Bottled at 40% (80 Proof) in Patrón's signature hand-blown glass decanter topped with a solid cork enclosure.
