Paul Hobbs Pinot Noir Hyde Vineyard 2016

Product description

Paul Hobbs Winery crafts wines from the most distinctive sites in the Russian River Valley, “true" Sonoma Coast, and Napa Valley that best express their varietal.

“The true character of a site is only revealed through the work and determination of tending each vineyard with meticulous care and vinifying with minimalist winemaking techniques that fully express the terroir.” – Paul Hobbs

Garnet with a deep violet core, the 2016 Hyde Vineyard Pinot Noir is refinement, balance, restraint, and precision encapsulated in a single wine. Elegant aromas of confiture, Rainier cherry, iron and clay waft delicately from the glass. On the palate, high-toned wild berry, savory game, and a touch of clove are framed by ultrafine-grained tannins and bright acidity. Try with thinly sliced saucisson sec, or a classic duck confit salad with peppery arugula. Serve at 50°-55° F.

94 Points - James Suckling    Blueberry cheesecake, ash, bright licorice, orange rind, dried hibiscus and raspberry tea. Medium to full body, fine tannins, lots of tangy blue fruit, pretty acidity and a charcoal, structured finish. Drink now.

93 Points - Wine Spectator    Dark, rich and concentrated, with tiers of blackberry, currant, raspberry and anise, backed by full-blown tannins that impart backbone but let the flavors glide through. Drink now through 2025.

93 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate    Medium to deep ruby-purple colored, the 2016 Pinot Noir Hyde Vineyard hits the ground running with bold earthy notes of mossy bark, tilled soil and fungi over a core of red and black cherries, cranberries and Provence herbs plus a touch of lavender. The wonderfully vibrant, medium to full-bodied palate has a fine-grained frame and compelling freshness, finishing minerally and with bags of finesse.
