Product description
This structured and 'crystalline' red wine originates from Spain, within the prestigious Ribera del Duero D.O. appellation situated on the elevated high-altitude plateau (Meseta Norte) of Castile and León. Produced under the Petit Vega label by Bodegas y Viñedos Vega de Yuso, this cuvée offers a vibrant, fruit-forward, yet beautifully structured expression of modern Ribera del Duero winemaking. Sourced from estate vineyards in Quintanilla de Onésimo and surrounding valleys at altitudes ranging between 750 and 850 meters above sea level, the vines are rooted in limestone-rich clay and gravelly alluvial soils. The region’s harsh continental climate defined by blistering summer days and dramatically cool nights (diurnal shift) allows the grapes to achieve optimal phenolic maturity while locking in a bright, mouthwatering natural acidity.
Wine Description
Petit Vega '8 Meses en Barrica' presents a brilliant, deep ruby-purple color in the glass with vivid magenta highlights along the rim. Its sensory profile is exceptionally fresh, high-toned, and expressive, delivering a fruit-driven yet structured portrait of high-altitude Tempranillo. The bouquet opens with an inviting display of ripe wild blackberries, fresh red plums, and black cherries, seamlessly layered with delicate underlays of vanilla bean, cocoa powder, sweet tobacco, ground spice, and a subtle touch of toasted oak wood. On the palate, the wine is medium-to-full-bodied, sleek, and precisely focused, showcasing a succulent core of dark stone fruits, licorice, and red berry compote. It is characterized by its outstanding inner energy and an incisive, mouthwatering backbone of natural acidity that effortlessy lifts the mid-palate fruit density. The mouthfeel is energetic, smooth, and supple, framed by fine-grained, approachable tannins that carry into a clean, dry, and savory finish accented by lingering notes of dark berry skin and toasted oak spice.
