Product description

Tilt Lager is a core offering from Victoria’s Phillips Brewing & Malting Co., one of the pioneers of British Columbia’s craft beer scene. While Phillips is famous for their experimental "Stump Jovial" series and massive IPAs like Amnesiac, Tilt is their dedicated "recreational" beer. It is designed to be the ultimate companion for active lifestyles whether that is a day on the boat, a round of disc golf, or a session in an old-school arcade (hence the pinball-themed name).

Beer Description

Tilt pours a brilliant, crystal-clear straw-gold with a bright white head and a steady stream of fine bubbles.

Aroma: The nose is clean, light, and "breezy." It leads with a delicate scent of freshly hulled grain and sweet pilsner malt, followed by a faint, citrusy hop note. It smells crisp and uncomplicated, with no heavy esters or aggressive aromatics.

Palate: On the tongue, it is light-bodied with a highly effervescent carbonation that makes it feel "snappy." It leads with a subtle crackery malt sweetness, which is quickly balanced by a very mild, floral bitterness. The finish is exceptionally dry and "short," meaning the flavor cleans up quickly, leaving you ready for another sip.

Profile: It sits at a highly sessionable 5.0% ABV and a low bitterness of approx. 12–15 IBU, making it the definition of an "easy-drinking" lager.

Technical Notes: Tilt is a "straight-up" lager brewed with premium ingredients. Phillips is unique because they have their own in-house malting facility, allowing them to use local barley malted exactly to their specifications. This gives Tilt a fresher, more distinct malt character than many other macro-style lagers. It is cold-fermented and aged to ensure a smooth, neutral profile that is free of flaws.
