Product description

Pieropan Soave Classico originates from Italy, within the Veneto region and the historic Soave Classico DOC zone east of Verona. Founded in 1880 by Leonildo Pieropan, the family estate—now directed by his sons, Andrea and Dario—is universally recognized as the pioneer that elevated Soave from a generic commercial white into a world-class wine. Sourced entirely from the hillside vineyards of the historical Classico zone, characterized by ancient volcanic and clay-limestone soils, Pieropan’s winemaking philosophy relies on low yields, organic viticulture, hand-harvesting, and fermentation entirely in neutral vessels. This approach preserves the pure, vibrant floral and mineral identity of the Garganega grape without the oak influence.

Wine Description

This white wine displays a pale, brilliant straw-yellow appearance in the glass with shimmering greenish reflections. It possesses a light-to-medium-bodied, crisp, and beautifully proportioned structure defined by a silky, fluid, and mouth-refreshing texture. The sensory profile is highly delicate, floral, and precise, opening with an inviting nose of white orchard blossoms, elderflower, green apples, and yellow pear, interwoven with subtle undertones of lemon zest, fresh almond, and crushed stone minerality. On the palate, it delivers a focused, energetic core of orchard and citrus fruits supported by a vibrant thread of natural acidity and a distinct saline-mineral streak. The finish is clean, dry, and persistent, leaving lingering echoes of bitter almond, citrus zest, and wet stones.

  • Varietal Composition: 85% Garganega and 15% Trebbiano di Soave.

  • Stylistic Notes: The organic grapes are hand-picked in multiple passes to ensure optimal ripeness. Following gentle whole-cluster pressing and cold settling, the wine undergoes temperature-controlled fermentation in glass-lined cement tanks. To preserve freshness, natural acidity, and pure fruit character, the wine undergoes no malolactic fermentation and ages on its fine lees in cement tanks for several months prior to bottling.

  • ABV: Typically 12.0% to 12.5%.

  • Organic Status: Fully Certified Organic (certified by ICEA), reflecting decades of sustainable farming, biodiversity preservation, and zero chemical synthetic inputs across their hillside estate plots.

Food Pairing

The vibrant natural acidity, subtle almond undertones, and clean mineral finish of Pieropan Soave Classico make it an exceptional match for light Italian and international cuisine.

  • Seafood & Shellfish: Pairs magnificently with grilled sea bass, pan-seared trout, oysters on the half shell, calamari, or clam linguine (linguine alle vongole).

  • Poultry & Light Meats: Excellent alongside herb-roasted chicken breast, lemon-piccata veal cutlets, or turkey scaloppine.

  • Pasta & Risotto: Ideal with spring vegetable risottos, pea and mint pasta, asparagus quiche, and pesto Genovese dishes.

  • Cheeses: Matches gracefully with fresh goat cheese (Chèvre), young Asiago, fresh Mozzarella di Bufala, or mild Ricotta.
