Pio Cesare Barolo originates from the Piedmont region of Italy, specifically the Barolo DOCG. Founded in 1881 by Cesare Pio, the winery is a historic landmark in Alba, now led by fifth generation proprietor Federica Boffa following the passing of her father, Pio Boffa. The family maintains a winemaking philosophy of minimal intervention, blending Nebbiolo from various estate-owned vineyards across the region to produce a classic 'formula' Barolo that reflects a broad range of unique terroirs.

Wine Description

This Barolo presents an intense, youthful ruby colour with garnet highlights. The aromatic profile is complex and incisive, featuring perfumes of violets, fresh raspberries, and strawberries, accented by undertones of aniseed, citrus, and sweet spices. On the palate, the wine is medium to full bodied with a silky texture and a structured core of red cassis, cherry, and earthy mineral notes. It is characterized by its sophisticated, fine tannins and a long, intense finish that highlights the wine's balanced acidity and freshness.
