Pirramimma Heritage GSM is a masterfully crafted Rhone style blend from the McLaren Vale region in South Australia. Established in 1892, Pirramimma is one of Australia's oldest family-owned wineries and is currently under the guidance of third generation winemaker Geoff Johnston. The winery is dedicated to its 'estate grown' philosophy, utilizing the unique red loam, limestone, and ironstone soils of their historic vineyards to produce wines known for their depth and regional integrity.
Wine Description
This deep mauve-hued red blend showcases the modern Australian interpretation of the classic Grenache, Shiraz, and Mourvèdre (GSM) style. The nose is lifted and expressive, revealing complex aromas of raspberries, plums, and cassis, nuanced by notes of smoked meats, mushrooms, and subtle spices. On the palate, the wine is medium to full bodied with an intense delivery of juicy red cherry, Christmas cake, and pomegranate flavours, balanced by pomegranate and anise. It is characterized by sleek, fine-grained tannins and a light touch of spicy oak that leads to a persistent, harmonious finish.
