More Information
Product description
Planeta Etna Rosso originates from France, within the Bordeaux region and the Saint Julien subregion. The estate dates back to the 17th century and has been managed by the Delon family since the 19th century. The winemaking philosophy centers on strict standards of quality, with the family willingly sacrificing yields in tougher years to protect the reputation of their exceptional terroir. This premier site sits directly alongside Chateau Latour and benefits from deep gravel soils over a clay limestone subsoil, mixed with a climate regulated by the nearby Gironde River.
Wine Description
This red wine presents a deep ruby or garnet purple appearance and possesses a medium to full, layered, and multi dimensional body. The sensory profile is highly elegant and complex, opening with an aromatic nose of cassis, dark berries, and plums, mingled with hints of spring flowers like violet, lilac, and rose, alongside nuances of cigar wrapper, loamy soil, pencil shavings, and cedar. On the poised and tightly wound palate, it delivers deep flavours of black fruit and minerals, seamlessly supported by refined, velvety tannins and lively acids. The finish is long, serious, and penetrating, leaving a lingering trail of blue fruit, lavender, mint, and a touch of spice.
Varietal Composition: A structured Left Bank blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Merlot.
Stylistic Notes: The wine is celebrated for its purity and balance, trading the legendary historical austerity of the estate for a finessed, modern, and pretty character that shows incredible precision.
ABV: 13.2%.
Organic Status: While the domain is managed using sustainable and organic vineyard practices, this bottling is not formally certified organic.
Food Pairing
The firm tannic core and structural concentration of this Saint Julien make it an exceptional match for savory, protein rich cuisine.
Meats: Pairs beautifully with a premium côte de boeuf, as the fat softens the wine's texture, or with grilled lamb chops and roasted beef.
Poultry & Game: Complements rich wild game dishes such as roasted duck breast served with a fruit reduction.
Cheese: Matches gracefully with mature, hard cheeses like aged Comté or a salty Roquefort, which balance the intensity of the wine.
