Product description
Planeta Rose originates from Italy, within the Sicily region and the Menfi subregion. The estate was established in 1995 and is currently guided by head oenologist Alessio Planeta. The family's winemaking philosophy focuses on capturing the vibrant essence of a Sicilian summer by utilizing sustainable viticulture and exploring diverse territories across the island.
Wine Description
This rosé wine presents a delicate pearl pink or soft sunset pink appearance and possesses a light-to-medium body with a supple, smooth texture. The sensory profile is incredibly fresh, lively, and expressive, opening with an aromatic nose of hibiscus, dog rose, wild strawberries, and pomegranate, backed by deeper hints of currants, melon, and pineapple. On the soft, round palate, it delivers crisp flavours of wild berries, grapefruit, and pale-fleshed peaches mixed with a subtle hint of savory meringue and a salty mineral edge. The finish is clean, fruity, and delightfully tangy, leaving a refreshing trail of lime and inner flowers.
Varietal Composition: A traditional blend of 50% Nero d'Avola and 50% Syrah, occasionally supplemented with a minor touch of Sauvignon Blanc depending on the label restyling.
Stylistic Notes: The wine is celebrated for its friendly, easy-drinking character and remarkable balance. Crafted similarly to a white wine, it undergoes a very brief skin maceration of about one hour for delicate colour extraction before fermenting and refining entirely on its fine lees in stainless steel tanks to emphasize pure fruit vibrancy.
ABV: 12.5%.
Organic Status: This estate bottling is officially certified organic and follows the strict criteria of the local SOStain sustainability protocol.
Food Pairing
The bright acidity, smooth texture, and elegant red fruit notes of this Sicilian rosé make it a marvellously versatile selection for warm weather dining.
Snacks & Starters: A perfect match for summer afternoon snacks, toasted almonds, quality potato chips, and Nocellara del Belice olives.
Seafood: Suggested pairings include fried seafood, vegetable tempura, raw fish, fresh sushi, or a warm octopus and potato salad.
Light Fare: Complements fresh garden salads, light pasta dishes, tapas, and traditional Sicilian street foods.
