Planteray Land Selection 12 Year Old Moscatel Cask Rum is an ultra-premium, limited-edition aged rum produced by Maison Ferrand under the Planteray Rum brand (formerly known as Plantation Rum). Rebranded in 2024 to honor the sugar cane terroir ("Plant") and the sun ("Ray"), Planteray continues the signature double-maturation technique perfected by Master Blender Alexandre Gabriel. This expression showcases aged rum from the historic West Indies Rum Distillery in Barbados, finished in rare Moscatel wine casks to merge rich Caribbean rum heritage with lush Spanish fortified wine complexity.

Spirit Description

Planteray Land Selection 12 Year Old begins with a blend of column and traditional copper pot-still rums crafted from sugarcane molasses in Barbados. The liquid undergoes an initial primary maturation of 10 years in tropical American oak ex-bourbon casks in the Caribbean heat. The barrels are then shipped to France to Chateau de Bonbonnet, where the rum spends an additional 2 years resting in continental oak casks that previously held sweet Moscatel wine. This second maturation infuses the spirit with rich dried fruit, floral honey, and refined grape tannins while maintaining its foundation of tropical oak and vanilla.

• Aroma: Complex, rich, and aromatic, opening with dried figs, raisins, candied orange peel, and floral honey, backed by toasted coconut, vanilla bean, charred oak, and subtle nutmeg spice.

• Palate: Luxurious, velvety, and well-structured on the entry. Upfront flavors of sweet Moscatel grape, ripe plum, and butterscotch give way to toasted almonds, dark chocolate, tobacco, baking spices, and balanced oak tannins.
