Paolo Conterno's Gran Bussia Barolo 2012 is an exceptional wine with a remarkable rating of 95 points. It entices the palate with enticing aromas of ripe red berries, violets, truffle, and cedar. The flavours of cherries, plums, tobacco, and exotic spices are beautifully balanced, with velvety tannins and a long, persistent finish.

The earthy, woodsy aromas show some evolution in this red, with just a hint of white truffle, yet there's still a hefty dose of spicy oak to be resolved. Rich and sumptuous midpalate, showing plum, cherry, tar and tobacco flavours shaded by vanilla and toasty spices, with firm, dusty tannins laying a grip on the long finish. Give this another year or two in the cellar.
