Product description

This rich dry red wine originates from the United States, within Washington State and the expansive Columbia Valley appellation. Powers Winery was founded in the early 1990s by Washington wine pioneer Bill Powers, who helped establish sustainable viticulture and organic farming practices in the region. Today, winemaker Greg Powers continues the family tradition, sourcing fruit from high quality vineyard sites across the valley to craft expressive wines with strong regional identity. The winery is known for producing full bodied, well structured wines that reflect the warm days, cool desert nights, and volcanic soils of eastern Washington.

Wine Description

This 2022 vintage presents a deep ruby garnet colour in the glass. The nose delivers an alluring array of dark fruits and herbal complexity, opening with aromas of mountain blackberry, black raspberry, and cassis, accompanied by savoury notes of dried sage, fennel, and a hint of wet limestone. On the palate, it exhibits a bold and structured body filled with flavours of ripe plum, black currant, and black cherry, seamlessly layered with notes of anise, dark chocolate, and subtle cedar. Firm, well integrated tannins provide structure and balance, guiding the wine into a long finish characterized by lingering dark berry fruit and toasted oak spice. Crafted primarily from Cabernet Sauvignon, the wine underwent barrel aging to enhance its texture and palate weight while preserving its bright varietal focus.

Food Pairing

The firm structure, rich fruit profile, and savoury notes of this Cabernet Sauvignon make it a classic partner for hearty meals. It pairs exceptionally well with grilled sirloin steak, roasted ribeye, braised beef short ribs, and roasted lamb. It also complements mushroom risotto, shepherd's pie, and aged sharp cheddar cheeses.
