Product description
This rich dry red wine originates from the United States, within Washington State and the expansive Columbia Valley appellation. Powers Winery was established by Washington wine pioneer Bill Powers, who helped lead sustainable and organic viticulture efforts in the Pacific Northwest. Sourced from dedicated estate and partner vineyard blocks—including the certified organic Badger Mountain Estate Vineyard as well as sites across the Wahluke Slope and Columbia Valley—the winery emphasizes environmentally responsible winemaking. The estate's viticultural approach balances low environmental impact with careful vineyard management to express the deep fruit character and natural structure of the region.
Wine Description
This 2020 vintage displays a deep garnet ruby colour in the glass. The nose opens with expressive aromatics of ripe pomegranate, dark plum, and red cherry, interwoven with savoury notes of rosemary, dried fennel, a touch of wet slate, and subtle smoked tobacco. On the palate, it exhibits a full bodied, supple, and rich mouthfeel filled with layered flavours of black licorice, cassis, and dark fruit, balanced by a distinct underlying minerality and fresh natural acidity. Well structured tannins frame the wine, leading to a long, focused, and polished finish. Crafted from 100% organic Merlot grapes, the fruit was fermented in stainless steel tanks and aged to enhance texture while preserving bright fruit intensity. It carries an alcohol by volume of 13.5%.
