Product description
This structured and 'aristocratic' rosé wine originates from France, within the regional Côtes du Rhône A.O.C. appellation in the sun-drenched Southern Rhône Valley. Produced by Château de Prieuré de Montezargues a historic estate nestled near Tavel with winemaking traditions dating back to the 12th-century monastic orders, now expertly managed by the Richard family with guidance from the winemaking team of Château La Nerthe this bottling captures the noble heritage of Southern Rhône rosé. Sourced from estate vineyard parcels rooted in deep sandy-gravelly soils enriched with quartzite river stones (galets roulés), the vines thrive under an ideal Mediterranean microclimate. Abundant sunshine is tempered by the cooling, drying effects of the Mistral wind, allowing traditional Rhône varieties to achieve complete phenolic maturity while preserving a crisp, mouthwatering natural acidity and delicate aromatic detail.
Wine Description
Prieuré de Montezargues Côtes du Rhône Rosé presents a luminous, pale coral-salmon color in the glass with bright peach and pink reflections along the rim. Its sensory profile is exceptionally fresh, high-toned, and complex, delivering an energetic, precise, and expressive portrait of Southern Rhône terroir. The bouquet opens with a soaring display of fresh wild red berries, crushed strawberries, and pomegranate seeds, seamlessly layered with complex underlays of orange blossom, white peach, fresh garrigue herbs, lavender, and a clean line of crushed stone minerality. On the palate, the wine is light-to-medium-bodied, sleek, and athletic, showcasing a succulent core of tart red fruits, citrus zest, and melon. It is characterized by its outstanding inner energy and an incisive, mouthwatering backbone of natural acidity that effortlessly balances its subtle mid-palate textural weight. The mouthfeel is broad, supple, and weightless, framed by gentle fine-lees contact that carries into an extraordinarily long, dry, and mineral-driven finish accented by persistent notes of pink grapefruit peel, ginger spice, and Mediterranean herbs.
