Product description

Primo 1861 Tequila Reposado is an ultra-premium, artisanal aged spirit produced in Arandas, within the Highlands (Los Altos) of Jalisco, Mexico. Crafted at the revered Feliciano Vivanco y Asociados distillery (NOM 1414) by Pedro Camarena Jr., this expression expands upon the brand's celebrated Blanco foundation. Designed for traditional agave purists, Primo 1861 Reposado bridges the gap between vibrant, raw agave character and delicate oak maturation, yielding an additive-free aged tequila of remarkable balance and nuance.

Spirit Description

Primo 1861 Reposado is made from 100% estate-grown Blue Weber agaves harvested at peak maturity from the iron-rich soils of Los Altos. The agaves are slow-cooked in traditional stone brick ovens, crushed using a combination of a roller mill and a traditional tahona wheel, and fermented in open pine wood vats with natural yeasts. Following double distillation in copper pot stills, the distillate is aged for several months in hand-selected American white oak barrels—just long enough to introduce soft oak tannins and warm spice without obscuring the core Highland agave notes.

  • Colour: Pale straw to light golden amber with luminous golden reflections.

  • Aroma: Inviting and harmonious, opening with sweet cooked agave, soft vanilla, and subtle toasted oak, accompanied by bright citrus peel, baking spices, light floral notes, and a gentle earthy minerality.

  • Palate: Smooth, rich, and oily on the entry. Upfront flavors of roasted agave and buttery vanilla blend into light cinnamon, toasted almonds, citrus oil, and a touch of oak spice.

  • Body: Medium-to-full-bodied with a velvety, coating mouthfeel.

  • Finish: Long, warm, and clean, trailing off with persistent sweet agave, soft oak tannins, gentle black pepper, and a subtle mineral dryness.

  • ABV: Bottled at 43% ABV (86 Proof).
