This concentrated red wine is a highlight of the Barbaresco DOCG in Italy’s Piedmont region. The estate’s legacy dates back to 1958, when the local priest and nineteen growers founded the cooperative to protect the Nebbiolo grape’s prestige. Today, the organization comprises fifty four families who exclusively cultivate Nebbiolo, adhering to a philosophy of terroir-driven winemaking and uncompromising quality.

Wine Description

The 'Montefico' Riserva is a 100% Nebbiolo that showcases a deep ruby red colour. Often compared to its neighbour Montestefano, it is renowned for its incredible mineral precision and austere, vertical structure. The sensory profile features a complex bouquet of dried cherries, pomegranate, and red currants, interwoven with high-toned notes of white pepper, flint, anise, and wild herbs. On the palate, the wine is full bodied and tightly wound, offering a laser-like focus with firm, chalky tannins and a long, saline finish. It is fermented at 180°C with 28 days of skin contact before aging for 30 months in large oak barrels and 9 months in the bottle. This wine is built for the cellar, with an optimal drinking window typically spanning 15 to 30 years from the vintage.
