The Protea Cabernet Sauvignon is a vibrant red wine from the Western Cape of South Africa, with grapes primarily sourced from the Groenekloof ward in the Darling region. Produced by Anthonij Rupert Wyne, the estate was originally owned by the late Anthonij Rupert before being taken over by his brother, Johann Rupert, in 2003. The winery is dedicated to combining high-quality viticulture with a philosophy of sustainability and conservation, often highlighted by their iconic floral-inspired packaging.

Wine Description

This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon presents a deep ruby colour with youthful purple highlights. On the nose, it offers inviting aromas of blackcurrant, ripe plum, and blackberry, layered with complex notes of dark cocoa, tobacco leaf, and subtle spice. The palate is medium to full-bodied and supple, featuring juicy dark fruit flavours of cherry and cassis complemented by nuances of cedar and graphite. It is well-integrated with a firm backbone and fine tannins that lead to a long, harmonious finish.
