Quinta De La Rosa Port 10 Year Old

This aged Tawny Port comes from Portugal, specifically the Douro Valley region, under the Porto DOC appellation. Quinta de la Rosa is a family-owned single quinta (estate) that has been producing high-quality Port wine for many generations. The estate is currently owned and run by the Bergqvist family, with Tim Bergqvist and his daughter Sophia at the helm. Since the 1988 vintage, they have been one of the few quintas to bottle their own Port and Douro table wines, focusing on quality and a lighter, drier style.

This is a blend of traditional Douro grape varieties, which typically includes Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, and Tinta Barroca. It displays a vibrant brick-red colour with a light tawny rim. The nose is complex, showing notes of figs, nuts, dark honey, cinnamon, caramel, and vanilla. On the palate, the wine is rich, mellow, and smooth, offering flavours of dried fruit, nuts, and spice. Stylistically, it is noted for its lovely freshness and balance, combining a youthful fruit character with the mature, nutty complexity developed through extensive aging in old oak pipas (barrels). The average age of the component wines in the blend is ten years. This wine is made from grapes grown on the estate's Grade A vineyards, which are farmed sustainably. Once opened, this aged Tawny can remain fresh for several weeks.
