Rabbit Hole Heigold Bourbon Whiskey is a high rye Kentucky Straight Bourbon produced in the Nulu district of Louisville, Kentucky. The distillery was founded in 2012 by Kaveh Zamanian, a former clinical psychologist who left his practice to pursue his passion for whiskey making, eventually opening a state of the art facility in 2018. Now part of the Pernod Ricard portfolio, the brand is known for its modernist approach to tradition, utilizing unique grain bills and a commitment to never chill filtering its spirits.
Spirit Description
This bourbon presents a deep caramel hue in the glass, a result of maturation in hand selected barrels that are toasted and charred over wood fired flames. The nose is highly aromatic, offering a bouquet of toasted malt, warm baking spices, and vanilla, with subtle hints of lemon and mint. On the palate, the body is creamy and full, featuring layers of silky butterscotch and honey that transition into the spicy character of malted rye. The finish is long and impactful, characterized by a crescendo of black pepper, cedary oak, and a touch of bright citrus. It is bottled at 47.5% ABV (95 proof) and is crafted from a mash bill of 70% corn, 25% malted German rye, and 5% malted barley.
