Product description

This structured and 'elegant' rosé wine originates from the United States, within the highly celebrated Dry Creek Valley AVA of Sonoma County, California. Sourced from Ridge Vineyards' historic Lytton Springs estate (originally acquired in 1972), this small-lot bottling is officially designated as the "Lytton Estate Rosé." The winery operates under a winemaking philosophy of "pre-industrial" low intervention and site transparency, famously championed by pioneer Paul Draper and carried forward by head winemaker Shauna Rosenblum. Rooted in ancient, well-drained volcanic and gravelly clay loam benchland soils, the blocks feature interplanted heritage vines. For this extemporaneous rosé, fruit is carefully selected across the estate to capture a precise, savory balance of California sun and cool coastal-valley nights.

Wine Description

Ridge 'Lytton Estate' Rosé presents a remarkably pale coral-pink appearance in the glass, leaning almost toward a white wine in its delicacy of color. Its sensory profile is fresh, intricately layered, and expressive, opening with a high-toned, delicate bouquet of honeysuckle water, rose petals, and white peach, beautifully woven with vibrant notes of red raspberry, Yakima cherry, and fresh strawberry. On the palate, the wine is light-to-medium-bodied, clean, and beautifully textured, showcasing an exuberant core of fresh orchard and summer berry fruit. The mouthfeel is surprisingly supple and substantial for its pale hue, benefiting from a unique malolactic roundness that drives into a lengthy, bone-dry finish defined by a distinctive flinty minerality, cool stone notes, and a whisper of dried savory herbs.
