Product description

Originating from the United States in California’s Sonoma County region, Rodney Strong Cabernet Sauvignon Sonoma County represents a classic, landmark expression of cool-climate coastal winemaking. Founded in 1959 by dancer and wine pioneer Rod Strong, Rodney Strong Vineyards was one of the first modern wineries established in Sonoma County. Guided today by a commitment to sustainable farming and carbon-neutral operations, the winery’s philosophy focuses on blending fruit from distinct sub-appellations—including Alexander Valley, Chalk Hill, and Dry Creek Valley—to craft structured, approachable wines with regional character.

Wine Description

The wine displays a deep, dark ruby purple colour in the glass. An inviting bouquet opens with classic aromas of rich black plum, cassis, and wild blackberry, complemented by nuances of dark chocolate, cocoa powder, crushed herbs, and warm toasted oak. On the palate, it is medium-to-full bodied, offering a lush, rounded mouthfeel filled with vibrant flavours of dark cherry, boysenberry, and espresso bean. Supported by a fine structure of ripe, velvety tannins and balanced acidity, it glides into a smooth, lingering finish with lingering spice notes. Composed predominantly of Cabernet Sauvignon blended with small portions of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot, it combines sunny fruit concentration with balanced structure, polished tannins, and food-friendly elegance.
