Royal Tokaji 'Nyulaszo' Aszu 1st Growth 6 Puttonyos 2017

Product description

Nyulaszo (meaning “a good place to catch hares”) is a celebrated First Growth vineyard overlooking the village of Mad. Its volcanic bedrock is overlaid with rich, brown clay interspersed with lighter rhyolite tuff, consistently producing racy, perfumed, elegant wines with a steely backbone. This wine is lively and elegant, highly perfumed on the nose with ripe peach and apricot on the palate balanced by silky acidity. The finish is long and incredibly complex. Sip on its own as an aperitif, serve with fruit-based desserts or hard cheeses, or enjoy this mouth-watering wine on its own instead of a pudding.

97 Points - Wine Enthusiast

Amber colored in the glass, this single-vineyard Nyulaszo wine has aromas of jasmine, orange zest and freshly picked apricot. In the mouth there are flavors of orange marmalade, white peach and apricot with a good balance of sweetness and acidity.

94 Points - Decanter

Ginger spiced fresh apricot, orange blossom, marmalade and a hint of flint on the nose. White pepper-dusted apricot and ripe persimmon, with crystallized ginger spiciness and raisin, dried apricot complexity follow through.

94 Points - Vinous

This has a lighter and perhaps less complex bouquet compared to Royal Tokaji’s other cuvees, though it develops nicely in the glass to reveal lemon verbena, dried mango and wild peachy scents. The palate is much more open, its impressive weight and concentration effortlessly counterbalanced by a fine line of acidity. This is very harmonious and poised, and almost Sauternes-like toward the finish.
