Product description

Sadler's Peaky Blinder Irish Whiskey originates from Ireland, specifically sourced from the renowned West Cork Distillers in Skibbereen, County Cork. The brand was developed by Sadler’s Ales, a historic craft brewery founded in 1861 in the Black Country region of the West Midlands, England, and is currently owned by Halewood Artisanal Spirits. Named after the infamous late 19th and early 20th-century street gang, the bottle features an authentic police archive mugshot of real-life gang member Stephen McHickie, paying homage to the prominent Anglo-Irish community in Birmingham during that era.

Spirit Description

This expression is a small-batch, triple-distilled blended Irish whiskey that has been finished in ex-bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks. It presents a deep amber-gold hue with a light to medium body.

  • Aroma: An inviting and sweet nose leading with blackcurrants, toffee-covered apples, banana bread, and dark honey, backed by a faint grain mash undertone.

  • Palate: Highly approachable and smooth, opening with fresh green pears and vanilla extract. It quickly transitions into a spicier profile featuring cracked black pepper, dried orange peel, and warm cinnamon.

  • Finish: Crisp and of medium length, leaving lingering hints of burnt fruitcake, ginger, and a light, dry woodiness.

  • ABV: 40%

Food Pairing

The fruit and spice characteristics of this sherry-finished blend make it a fantastic, easy-drinking partner for everyday pub-style fare and sweet treats:

  • Savoury: Complements classic pub dishes like a rich steak and ale pie, glazed pork belly, or a traditional Irish beef stew, where the grain sweetness balances the rich gravy.

  • Cheese: Pairs beautifully with mild, nutty cheeses such as an un-aged Gouda or a creamy white cheddar.

  • Dessert: An excellent accompaniment to autumn-inspired desserts like apple crumble with vanilla custard, warm gingerbread, or bread pudding, which mirror the whiskey's baking spice and toffee notes.
