Product description
Sam Jasper is the flagship Cabernet Sauvignon crown jewel of the Indelicato family's Prestige Collection. The wine’s name pays homage to Gaspare "Jasper" Indelicato—who arrived in California from Sicily in 1911—and his brother-in-law "Sam," with whom he founded the original Sam Jasper Winery in 1935.
To craft a modern ultra-premium benchmark honoring their family legacy, the family partnered Black Stallion Estate Director of Winemaking Ralf Holdenried with legendary Napa Valley consulting winemaker Thomas Rivers Brown. Released as a 100% Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, Sam Jasper sits alongside Transcendent and Bucephalus at the absolute peak of the estate's hierarchy.
Wine Description
The Sam Jasper Cabernet Sauvignon pours an inky, pitch-purple color. On the nose, it releases fragrant, brooding aromas of ripe, brambly blackberries, black cherries, and wild plums, laced with notes of crushed walnut husk, cedar chest, graphite, and toasted French oak.
On the palate, the wine delivers Thomas Rivers Brown's hallmark combination of power, precision, and broad, silky weightlessness. Flavors of dark cherry, redcurrant, and blueberry fan out across a lush, mouth-filling frame, underlaid by accents of dark cocoa, licorice, espresso roast, and subtle dried floral spice. Despite its full-bodied power and rich concentration, the wine is lifted by vibrant natural acidity and structured by fine-grained, integrated tannins, leading into a long, mouthwatering finish.
Food Pairing
The plush fruit concentration, dark cocoa notes, and structured palate of this flagship Cabernet match best with rich, savory protein dishes. Ideal pairings include dry-aged ribeye or Prime New York strip steak, slow-braised short ribs with polenta, pan-roasted duck breast with a cherry reduction, or roasted venison loin. It also complements earthy dishes like wild mushroom risottos, truffle-infused dishes, and long-aged hard cheeses like Comté or dark clothbound cheddar.
