Product description

This structured and 'artisanal' red wine originates from Italy, within the world-renowned Brunello di Montalcino D.O.C.G. appellation of Tuscany. Cantina San Guglielmo is a highly regarded, boutique micro-estate operating under a strict winemaking philosophy that prioritizes small-scale precision, deep environmental respect, and site transparency. Boasting a minuscule footprint of just one hectare dedicated exclusively to Brunello production, the winery embodies the proud, minimalist spirit of artisanal craftsmanship. The vines are rooted in a premium, sun-drenched collinare (hillside) terroir, where the natural interplay of maritime winds and well-exposed slope orientations yields a Sangiovese of exceptional stylistic clarity, unaffected by high-volume industrial intervention.

Wine Description

The 2019 San Guglielmo Brunello di Montalcino presents a brilliant, intense ruby red color in the glass with luminous garnet reflections shimmering at the rim. Its sensory profile is remarkably pure, elegant, and high-toned, opening with a beautifully traditional and multi-faceted bouquet of violets, fresh iris blossoms, and wild red berries, layered with delicate undertones of sweet spices, cedar shavings, and small red fruits preserved sotto spirito (in alcohol). On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, linear, and meticulously focused, showcasing an incredibly sincere, fruit-forward core of sour red cherries, mandarin juice, and under-ripe wild strawberries. It is characterized by its outstanding acid-to-tannin balance and an incisive backbone of vertical freshness. The mouthfeel is sleek and relaxed rather than over-extracted, driven by fine-grained, grainy tannins that glide effortlessly into a clean, well-balanced finish highlighted by an invitingly dry fruit presence and savory spice tones.

This authentic, dry red expression is crafted entirely from 100% Sangiovese (specifically selected clones of Sangiovese Grosso). Hand-harvested with extreme precision on October 9th to maximize phenolic development, the fruit underwent a careful, traditional skin maceration and temperature-controlled fermentation in the cellar. Following a complete malolactic conversion to soften its mineral edges, the wine was aged according to the region's strict disciplinary codes for multiple years in a combination of traditional wood formats to seamlessly knit its structural components together, followed by extensive bottle refinement. It reaches a classic, well-contained alcohol content (ABV) of 14.0%. True to the estate's hands-on, micro-boutique values, the blocks are managed with a deep conviction that the land must be listened to, prioritizing low-intervention, environmentally respectful viticulture.
