Product description

This distinguished red wine hails from the Montalcino region within Tuscany, Italy. Purchased by the Allegrini family in 2007, the San Polo estate is managed with a commitment to sustainability and regenerative agriculture, holding a CasaClima Wine certification for its eco-friendly underground cellar. The 'Podernovi' vineyard is a specific single-vineyard plot characterized by its high altitude and soils rich in marl and clay, which the winery uses to produce an elegant, archetypal expression of the terroir.

Wine Description

Podernovi presents a clear ruby red colour with purple reflections. On the nose, it offers an expressive and seductive profile of raspberry, cherry, and violets, complemented by hints of mint, hibiscus, and aromatic wood. The palate is juicy and well-structured, featuring flavours of currants, dark cherries, and a touch of marzipan. This medium-bodied wine is defined by its gripping acidity, integrated tannins, and a long, savoury finish.

Accolades

  • Wine Spectator - 93 points

  • James Suckling - 94 points

Food Pairing

The wine’s elegant structure and vibrant acidity make it a superb companion for red meats, wild game, or dishes featuring mushrooms and truffles. It also pairs beautifully with aged cheeses such as Parmigiano Reggiano or Tuscan pecorino.
