Product description
Sandeman 20 Year Old Tawny Port originates from Portugal, within the Douro region and the Porto subregion. Founded in 1790 by George Sandeman, the historic port house is famous for its iconic "Don" figure logo and operates today under the Sogrape portfolio under the stewardship of head winemaker Luís Sottomayor. The winery is celebrated for its mastery of barrel aging, selecting exceptional port wines to mature in traditional 600-litre oak casks at its centuries-old lodges in Vila Nova de Gaia to achieve ideal harmony between fruit and oak complexity.
Wine Description
This fortified wine displays an intense tawny-amber colour with warm copper highlights. The nose opens with an expansive bouquet of dried apricots, figs, toasted hazelnuts, candied orange peel, and honey, accompanied by subtle nuances of vanilla, brown sugar, and sweet baking spices. On the palate, it exhibits a full body with a rich, silky texture balanced by a vibrant thread of acidity that lifts the sweetness. Stylistically, the wine combines power and refined elegance, seamlessly blending the freshness of younger component ports with the complex, nutty, and oxidative character of old oak-aged wines through a long, luxurious finish.
Varietal composition: Blend of traditional Douro grape varieties including Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barroca, Touriga Nacional, and Tinta Cão
Alcohol by volume: 20.0%
