Schild Shiraz Moorooroo 2016

Product description

Schild Estate wines are created with authenticity and passion. From real earth in the Southern Barossa by generations of a family who have made that place their home. The goal remains to reflect the soft elegant palate of Schild's viticultural home in the southern portions of the Barossa Valley. A medium to full-bodied mix of blackberry, mocha, dark chocolate and liquorice, ripe tannins. Sweetness without dead fruit characters.

The 2016 Moorooroo recently picked up its own 99 points from James Halliday in the 2020 Wine Companion and earnt its place on the ‘Best of the Best’ list in the Shiraz category. Previously it also won a GOLD medal at the 2019 Syrah du Monde International Wine Competition and was awarded second place overall proving that this vintage will live up to the high expectations of its predecessors.

92 Points - Wine Enthusiast     With climate change already knocking at Australia's door, the heavy bottle and thick plastic seal is disappointing to see here. The contents inside, however, prove solid. Nearly opaque in color, this wine neatly combines earthy characters like charred beets and cumin with cracked black pepper, chocolate and coffee oak notes and plush blackberry fruit. There's power on the palate but not overt heaviness. Savory, granular tannins support a midpalate of silky fruit and oak. Give this another few years in the bottle. Drink 2022–2035.
